LED strip placed on canvas with custom shape (not zig zag or line)

Hi,

Quick question, any advice on how to find a workaround to map out a strip in the shape of a circle?

Best vibes,

Thomas

  • Hello @thomnom,

Sorry, I do not see any workaround, unless using a shader to distort the image :

Here is an ISF shader to distort a square image (does not work on resolutions that are rectangles) :

  • Thanks for that tip, will have it mind, in this case this is not an option as I need to see live video without any distortion.

Just to be sure I attached a screenshot of what I mean, the only workaround I can think of is to build up a hexagon shape of straight lines but really not optimal either.

Would it be possible to add functionality of custom LED shape, some basic preset shapes with adjustable anchor points (circle, triangle, square) ?

Let me know if you can think of other workarounds? 🤞🏻

  • Hello @thomnom,

I admit it's not ideal, but I do not see any other solution. At leats, you can create a separate canvas receiving (via Syphon) the frame of another canvas, and use this canvas for distorsion only (so you could see your content on the other canvas).

About custom LED shape : for now, it's not planned, but feel free to create an idea on Uservoice, so we could keep track of this request and see if other users are interested.

  • A dream would be to use a pen tool to draw a shape 🙏🏻 But having a square and circle as additional shape options would level up Millumin LED capabilities a ton, pleeeeease 🤞🏻
