I wonder if there is a way to have Millumin performing file replacement based on the version noted in the name of the file.

Hello @xsanabria,
Millumin does not use filename suffixes to replace files. This would be very odd and risky anyway.
However, you can copy a project, auto-save, ... easily. More info in this article.
