Mapping Question

For a project, I want to map onto a surface that curves backwards – essentially a semicircle, curving inwards.

I saw a photo which I think would do exactly that (see image 1), but I don’t know how to achieve it (see image 2). I can manage to curve the surfaces forwards, but not backwards. Could you help me?
