clicks in the audio files

Hi, I'm currently using Millumin to control lighting, sound and video for a theatre production. Everything is working well so far, but yesterday, during the dress rehearsal, I heard a few clicks in the audio files. The files themselves are clean, so it must be coming from the programme or something similar. Do you have any idea what the problem could be?

A few ideas on my part:

- Yesterday during the rehearsal I adjusted the audio levels during playback (e.g. from 100% to 130%)

- I was in ‘edit mode’ throughout the performance

- I work with two screens, on one Millumin, on the other the text (PDF) and Logic, where I switch on live effects

- Maybe Millumin doesn't like it when you also use Logic and switch a microphone + reverb and effects on and off here

We have a premiere today, so if anyone has any ideas, I would be very grateful :) !!!

Best regards

Benjamin

  • Hello @TheaterderMitte,

if you raise the audio volume above 100%, your audio signal might clip (going so loud, that it makes noises). This is the first thing to check.

Then, how do you output audio from Millumin ? Do you use audio-routing ? Dante audio (audio over the network) ?

    Best. Philippe

  • @Millumin Everything went great at the premiere yesterday! So it can't be the raising of the audio level. The audio output goes via an interface (M-Audio), via jack (stereo) into two DI boxes and to the theatre system.

What I did at the dress rehearsal and not yesterday:

    - I didn't change any parameters during the performance (especially didn't adjust any audio levels)

    - I did not make any corrections to fade times and light levels and positions (moving lights)

Maybe it's really because changing the parameters during a show has an effect on the playback of the audio files...?

We're playing again today and tomorrow and I'll see if click noises occur again.

    Thank you!!!
