MacBook M4 Pro outputs sync
Hi there.
i’m having some issues on a very basic setup.
20x4 mt led display, 2 led controllers (one for left, one for right)
1 canvas 5120x1025 no display
1 routing (1 canvas to many outputs) with slice 1 going to the led controller managing left part of the screen (2560x1024) and slice 2 going to the led controller managing right part of the screen (2560x1024).
first slice pos. 0,0
second slice pos. 2560,0
the trick works for Test card or still images, but with videos I can see the vertical line between the 2 slices (maybe a sync problem?)
My machine is a MacBook Pro m4 pro. Same problem either using usb-c to hdmi for slice 1 and hdmi out for slice 2 or using the OWC usb-c to dual HDMI adapter on a single usb-c port.
am I doing something wrong or there is no way to have the two outputs perfectly in sync?

Hello @albertospad,
Mac's outputs are not guaranteed to be "frame sync".
That is why you need additional hardware such as a Datapath FX4.

Thanks Philippe.
btw settings are correct?
and this adapter won’t solve the issue, right?
No, sorry.
Hi @albertospad ,
I just made a project with a resolution 6144x2048. I created a background in the barco E2 with 2xDP Input. Each has 3072x2048. Then i used a thunderbolt to 2x DP Output from Sonnet, similar to yours.
The mac sees it as one big output and i can´t see any tearing on the screen.
But important is that your mac sees it as one big output. Because of that I use the E2. I think when you connect it directly to two different LED controller, it may not work.
Hello Hagert, thanks for your reply. My set-up wasn’t that different from yours but I was entering an Analogway instead of the E2. The adaptor is seen as as a single 8k but had same sync issues than using different ports. I will give a try on that adapter from Sonnet!
Hi @albertospad
make sure you use displayport. it is sometimes more difficult with HDMI.
