ProRes playback is choppy

Hello.


When I render ProRes on a MacBook Pro M4 Max with 32GB of RAM, playback sometimes stutters for both 4444 (with alpha) and 422.

Even when stuttering occurs, the output frame rate remains at 60 fps, and the monitor shows almost no load.

The stuttering doesn’t occur at specific points; even with the same file, playback can be smooth one moment and stutter the next.

I tried various solutions, but ultimately, the stuttering disappeared when I converted the file to MP4.

I know MP4 isn’t recommended, but I don’t understand why ProRes isn’t working.

I export the video from After Effects using Media Encoder with the default settings.

The resolution is 1920×1080 at 60 fps.

Please advise.
