Frame sync on m2 studio

Hihi,

I have a m2 studio ultra with a decklink 8k in a Sonnettech echo III enclosure. It is being genlocked by a Blackmagic mini sync generator outputting 1080p @ 59.94

I'm driving a 6700 x 2160 LED wall off this and would like to be able to have 2 frame synced 3840 x 2160 outputs from the decklink @ 60 fps.

Currently if I use 8k mode on the decklink I can get frame sync @ 30fps

However I'm unsure of how I would get 2 synced 4k @ 60 fps out of the decklink. As putting it into 8k 59.94 mode causes bitrate stuttering and setting the two outputs as seperate signals causes tearing every few minutes (even with sync, although it did help)

Any advice on if this is even doable? Is there a different supported SDI card that would handle this?

Thanks!!

  • Hello @OhLow,

Unless used as a whole 4320p output, the 4 outputs are working asynchronously on computer's side. Thus, everything should be both synchronized at software level (Millumin) and at hardware level (Blackmagic Decklink or Ultrastudio). We are still working on the first thing, and the second thing can be achieved with sync-signal, so there is nothing to code about this.

In brief : this is a feature we are working on, despite I have no date to give, sorry. To my knowledge, I am not aware of any software handling this properly (except maybe expensive media server such as Disguise, but I did not test them with Blackmagic devices).

I suggest you to contact us in a few months to learn more about our progress about this feature.

    Best. Philippe
