how to use Kinect 2 Xbox with a silicon mac ?

edited December 4 in MAIN

Hi guys, how to open millumin V5 beta of V4 for INTEL through Rosetta from a silicon mac ? You say:

"The library for the Kinect are not available for Apple Silicon machines. To use it on these machines, please run Millumin via Rosetta (Intel emulation)."

Ok so i need to install Millumin V5 beta or V4 for Intel, right ? I don't understand how to download the Intel version. When i get a download link i do not see the choice to download for intel or do i miss something ?

Should I find an old intel mac and download Millumin from there ? Or there is a way to force open an app through Rosetta ?

Many thanks in advance for you amazing work!

  • Hi i have found the solution 😅 at the end.

1- i used the terminal to install Rosetta on my M2 ( instructions: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fQ0xVOVmiLs )

2- i opened the get info menu on Millumin 5 app icon and checked "Open using Rosetta" and it Kinect 2 works fine now.

  • Hello @fredadam,

You need to click on Millumin4.app and press CMD+I to display the info of the application. Then check the option "Open using Rosetta". More info in the Apple's article that we cited in our documentation.

Hi @Philippe thank you! i get advantage to ask you another question about Kinect. Is it possible to use the depth map to create interactivity depending on the distance between a human body and the kinect ? for example i would like to jump gradually from one column to the other on the dashboard when someone is approaching the kinect.

    Thanks in advance.

  • Hello @fredadam,

There is no direct method to do so. And this is not as easy as it seems.

With new JavaScript feature in Millumin V5 beta, you might be receive the X/Y/Z position of the skeleton and do an action depending on this value.
