External 2K display at 48hz on Apple MacBook Pro M1 Max?

I am running Millumin 4 on an Apple MacBook Pro M1 16". Very happy with the cores and the 32GB of RAM - but the display issues seem tricky.
Does anyone happen to know - or have tested - if the M1 silicon will allow 2K to be set at 48khz suitable for 24fps projection please? Or is it locked to 60hz?
