equirectangular 12k driving video plates?
Hi, we have been using Millumin for LED wall work for many years now, including driving plates.
When will a workflow be available to use equirectangular 12k driving video plates as supplied by companies like plate-pros and sim-plates?
Currently the only solution is to slice them up and attempt distortions to make clean views.
Pixera and LiveFX both handle them natively, allowing you to rotate the view 360-degrees in real time.
We love using Millumin, but this has become a real limiting factor…

Hello @BenVideo,
From what I understand you want to have an effect for footage such as this one, creating a 3D representation so you could rotate on the right or the left (like in this video). I believe you are using such footages to film a movie with a scene inside a car.
Am I right ?

Hi Phillppe,
Yes, this is for shooting scenes inside a car, generally called "LED Car Process".
This video is a better example of the 360-degree plates from our friend Alex Pierce:
As much as we love LiveFX, Millumin has some advantages for handling multiple canvases. I'm also a longtime Millumin user, so would love to be able for it to be more competitive with other media servers like LiveFX.
For car-process, we generally have (3) large rolling flat LED walls and (1) suspended ceiling section.
Traditional driving plates are shot from fixed angles (front, side, back, quarters etc.), but often film makers wish for the camera to be positioned more organically and not at specific hard angles.
Even just a tool that wold let us rotate a. 360 plate and then render out a specific view that could then be imported into Millumin would be a good start...
Thanks for your help....
