SVP - frame interpolation in Millumin?

I am in the process of migrating a project from Coolux Pandoras Box to Millumin, due to the sleeker and more modern interface in Millumin and the hefty price tag on Coolux upgrades. We have benefited from the excellent Fluidframe interpolation engine in PB, since we need to slowdown/speedup movies on the fly for synchronization with live symphony orchestra - similar to the crank up/down on a regular film projector. This has been the main reason for sticking with PB, but I would be able to do a similar thing with Millumin. Only - the frame interpolation engine is missing. I don't see any Mac software having an interpolation engine to compensate for the stutter and jerky playback, when adjusting the speed on movie clips. However, I discovered SVP https://www.svp-team.com/ which has a list of supported players . Any possibilities that Millumin might become a partner in future?

  • Hello @jaconiel,

We do not plan to have a partnership with SVP.

However, frame interpolation is indeed an interesting feature. We have not been working heavily on it, but this is something we are evaluating. For now, we are focused on other features, but feel free to poke us in a few months.

    Best. Philippe

  • Thanks - this sounds interesting indeed!

This is especially true when we consider our dilemma with 50 or 60 Hz setups in the professional video sector.

If we have set up our equipment for 50 Hz, the customer will certainly arrive with a video that has 30 or 60 fps.

If we have set up our equipment for 60 Hz, the customer will certainly arrive with a video that has 25 or 50 fps.

    It is always like this.

An interpolation plug-in would save a lot of work here.

  • Agreed; interpolation would be a great feature to have for corporate conference shows where we need to incorporate many third-party assets with random framerates.

It's the one feature we miss from the Watchout days...
